Various Roles in "The Velveteen Rabbit" with Opera Contempo
“The Velveteen Rabbit” is a Christmas opera in four scenes adapted by Mandi Barrus from the beloved children’s story by Margery Williams. The score is by Monica Hymas. This charming opera reminds us that to be real is to be loved.
“The Velveteen Rabbit” is FREE and is suitable for all ages. It will run 60 minutes or less.

A bit about the show: This will be an educational outreach performance for local 5th graders, and I will only be acting—no singing involved! I am thrilled to be back on stage with the incredible Utah Symphony for this high-tech, modern outreach performance.

Julia will be performing the music of Steve Reich’s “Proverb” and Pérotin’s “Viderunt omnes”.

This show is set in 1960s Venice and tells the story of film director Guido Contini, who is dreading his imminent 40th birthday and facing a midlife crisis. This life event blocks his creative impulses and entangles him in a web of romantic difficulties.
Performer in the SLC Vocal Fest
Introducing the SLC Vocal Fest! This is a FREE event on August 12th. It is a festival of vendors, diverse talents, and the craftsmanship of local residents. The Festival will run from 4 PM- 9 PM. The Vocal Fest concert will begin at 7 PM.
I will be debuting a quartet/trio from a new opera called “Le Roman de Silence“ by Anthony Buck, a local composer and librettist, as well as an aria from the opera.
